01/07/2020: Helpful Hint for 2020

A new year brings about so many new wonderful opportunities – but it can also bring about an emerging field of new potential scams.

In an effort to keep you as safe as possible this New Year – here is one easy way to help protect yourself from falling victim to the bad guy.

Law Enforcement Officials have recommended that we all get in the habit of not abbreviating the year when we write or sign it on documents or checks.

The abbreviation “20” can be easily altered and could be used against you.

The concern is that scammers could easily manipulate a document dated “1/1/20” into “1/1/2000” or even “1/1/2021.”

It’s suggested that the habit of utilizing the full year is practiced during 2020.  That’s a resolution we can all get behind!

We recommend following this advice and save yourself from potential hassle down the road.
